Overview

Signal App

4.8/5

Signal is an open-source communication app that supports text, voice, and video calls. It's entirely cross-platform and features end-to-end encryption. This makes it the first choice of users looking for enhanced security and privacy with a communication app.

There has been a sharp increase in the number of new Signal app downloads in recent years. Many people think that it's due to some drastic change to WhatsApp - a people's favorite encrypted messaging service app.

The developers of this app explain that are not only messages encrypted, but also the metadata in those messages is private. In other words, if you are chatting on Signal with someone else, only the person who is receiving your messages will be able to see those messages.

Signal is available on Android and iOS devices and can also be installed on PCs running macOS, Windows, and Linux.

Pros and Cons

  • Group chat for over 150 participants

One of the best messaging apps available to download today. Also pretty good for making calls, sharing photos, videos, etc.

Overall a helpful app. Great privacy etc. Could improve with calls. The updates aren’t handy and worth mentioning.

I have been using Signal for a long time now. I use it as my default messaging app, and I think it is excellent. However, there is one problem I would like to address to is that – if I am messaging through Signal to a person who doesn’t have it as their primary messaging app, they don’t get the notification of my messages. So, I’d really like this problem to be fixed.
